Designed as a contemporary treehouse, the delight of this house lies in how it is nestled within the understory of the site’s towering redwoods. The challenging sloped site and floodplain requirements are turned into opportunities for elevated living spaces and foliage-framed views of the Russian River.

Residents enter the home from a bridge extending from the top of the site’s gabion retaining wall and continue to the primary bedroom through a tree-lined hallway. Generous amounts of wood finishes were selected to further blend the home into its surroundings.
